Writing For The Love Of It
It’s truly a labor of love!
Welcome to the third issue of Writings from the Edge, the magazine of stories, poems, and essays by writers from the Edgewater Library writing group. The group has been meeting twice a month for seven years – and the participants’ down-to-earth, caring, enthusiastic spirits (as one writer described the group); their wide-ranging writing styles, genres, and topics; and their embracing of new members who have joined the group over the years continues, year after year.
The writing group’s appreciation for and support of each author’s uniqueness will be tangible as you read through this issue. Writings range from succinct, sensuous, and at times downright provocative haiku; to profound reflections on the centrality of family and friendship; to compelling fictional tales driven by fascinating characters and intricate plot hooks. Yet across their delightful differences, there are universal themes that deepen our understanding of our humanity: the intricacies of relationships, the small pleasures that brighten our lives ̧ the elusive but necessary search for justice.
We hope these writings open your hearts and deepen your wisdom.
