Friends Wants You!

Whether you’re a member or not*, there are always times when Friends of the Edgewater Library can use your help. This is a perfect opportunity to get to know us and see if you want to become a member. You are also welcome to attend meetings as a guest.

There are no opportunities to volunteer at the Edgewater branch library, and we do not provide volunteers for the library.

During our Book Sale, we’re always looking for people to help us set up, tear down, and to work durng the book sale. For special programs, we need volunteers to help us set up and break down the room, and to greet and check in attendees.

Come play with us for events and regular programs like The No Book Club. You don’t have to be a member to enjoy the many cultural and informative resources that Friends of the Edgewater Library provides. Of course, we would love it if you would join us and financially support the many activities that we host annually.

* Volunteering for some committees requires a Friends membership to protect our members' privacy and safeguard the organization. See the adjacent committee list. The basic Friends membership is only $10 annually. You can join us here.

Committees

Our standing committees work year-round to bring programs and events to our membership and the Edgewater community. Although we are always looking for volunteers, certain committees require Friends membership. For more details on the needs of each committee, please download the PDF.

• Book Sale | We organize the annual Book Sale and occasional pop-up book sales that happen throughout the year. (Please note that if you want to help sort books before the book sale, you must be a member. If you only want to help during the book sale setup and break down and the two days of the book sale, you do not need to be a member.)

• Bylaws* | We make sure Friends operates as intended.

• Communications *| We let our members and community know what’s happening with Friends, the Edgewater Branch, and our community partners and sponsors.

• Membership * | We connect with new, renewing, former, and potential members throughout the year. We provide a source of revenue through our Friendraising membership drives. Join now!

• Community Engagement | We connect Friends to all the other Edgewater community organizations. Check out our Community Engagement page and help us connect to community organizations.

• Programs | We plan fun and informative events all year long.
