The 1893 Columbian Exposition was pivotal to Chicago and the nation. Important inventions like electric lighting, the moving sidewalk, and even the zipper were showcased. It was also a time that highlighted disparities as Native American and Black Chicagoans protested their exclusion and misrepresentation.
