Storybook Tea Time for Two

What are the ingredients for a storybook tea party? Children and their caregivers were delighted to find out.

At a special event on October 22, children ages 3-8 were treated to a fun afternoon with apple juice “tea,” pinwheel sandwiches, lemon tarts, cupcakes, cheese, and fruit. The festive event, complete with streamers and balloons, was hosted by Children’s Librarian Stuart Griner, who read aloud two books about friendship.

And, of course, young ‘uns and adults sang and performed the nursery rhyme, “I’m a Little Teapot.” I bet you remember the tune, as well the gestures for the handle and spout.

I’m a little teapot
Short and stout
Here is my handle
Here is my spout

When I get all steamed up
Hear me shout
“Tip me over
and pour me out!”

As a memento of the day, children took home a bag of treats that included four books, snacks, a pencil and coloring pages.

Storybook Tea Time for Two was sponsored by Friends of the Edgewater Library during National Friends of Library Week.
